The packaging
We all know that Benefit does an AMAZING job with their packaging and this instance is no different. Besides being adorable, the cap seems to stay clicked in place while it's on so you can throw it in your daily makeup bag without fear of the cap coming off and wrecking the product. I tested the twist up function which also seems to work as it should. No complaints with the packaging or functionality.
The product
The It's a twist up, stick formulation. Benefit recommends to apply the product directly onto skin from the tube. Now for application, I applied the product directly to my skin about 20 minutes after I applied my moisturizer (with SPF 30, I'm a good girl). Following the application of the primer, I applied Maybelline New York Fit Me! Shine-free stick foundation. I quickly blended the foundation & primer together with my Sigma F80 Flat-top kabuki until it was buffed into my skin.
I noticed that while I was applying the primer there was a cooling sensation, there was no discernible scent and that it was completely translucent on the skin. Once blended with my foundation, the finish was smooth and very slightly tacky. After applying my under-eye concealer, I lightly set my skin with Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder to create an easy flawless finish.
The wear
After my first application, I was pleased with the texture of this product but the true test had to be time. I usually apply my makeup at about 7:30am during the work week. While at work, I'm not big into touching up but I do take peeks at my makeup throughout the day to insure that I don't look like a hot mess. Not only have I noticed that my foundation has not been breaking down since I've been using this product, but my blush, bronzer, and contour/highlighter are all lasting longer than they do without this primer. Being a huge fan of flushed and defined face, I'm thrilled to see my product still on my face at 5pm!
The verdict
I think that this is a fantastic product and I'm very happy with how it wears on the face. I'm going to continue using it until something else tickles my fancy. But for now, I would definitely recommend this primer to prolong the life of your makeup in the summer heat-- it's worth the price tag.
Love,
Michele
