A few of my favorite things, Part 1: Face product faves
As you probably already know, I am a beauty product junky. Out of all the products in my makeup collection, I do have my daily favorites. I may not use all of these products everyday but these are in my day-to-day rotation. Let's get started.
1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light: This is a luxury product for sure. I use this sparingly as a setting powder after foundation/concealer. It gives a beautiful soft-focus effect to the skin without looking shimmer or glittery at all. I have also applied to clean, moisturized skin on it's own and it creates a healthy subtle radiance and blurs imperfections just enough to look polished on a light makeup day.
2. L'Oreal True Match Magic Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup in W5 (my summer shade, I can wear W3 the rest of the year): This is a really nice light-coverage foundation. It's not overly dewy or shiny-- just slightly luminous in a very natural way. I've heard that it can be built up for a more medium-coverage but I prefer a light-coverage when it comes to liquid foundation (cake face = gross). I just use a concealer if I need added coverage for problem areas. It's not the most long-wearing product out there but the next product helps it stick around all day.
3. Benefit Cosmetics Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer: See my in-depth review here. I have been really enjoying this product whenever I use a liquid foundation. It really does make my makeup last even on the hottest days. Not sure if I'll need it as the weather cools off since I won't be sweating my makeup off, but we'll see.
4. L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Crayon Concealer in W4-5: Now this is a drugstore gem. I like it better than most of my higher-end concealers for spot concealing. I don't usually use this under my eyes because it's on the drier side but it works beautifully to cover spots and redness around the nose and mouth.
5. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer in Neutralize and Brightener. I spoke about these a bit here. They are my fall-back under-eye concealer products. The combination of the neutralizer shade and the brightener shade give a light coverage but do a nice job of concealing those pesky dark circles. I always set it with my Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder.
6. Sigma Flat Kabuki- F80: This is a synthetic, densely packed kabuki brush. I use this to buff in liquid makeup and it does a hell of a job. I never notice any lost bristles stuck to my face or brush stroke marks when I use this brush. And it's super soft. It's a good brush.
7. Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Power: This is a very finely milled translucent powder and really does help to brighten the under-eye area. I applied it with a large fluffy eye-shadow brush for a very light application. It softens the look of fine lines and never looks or feels cakey, and it will last a long time since you only need a very small amount to set concealer. Good stuff.
