Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Paints
Over the last few years I've become acquainted with cream shadows. I used to avoid them because I was sure that they'd crease and wear horribly throughout the day. Now so many cream shadows are marketed as being long-wearing-- they start off as a cream and then set after applied to the skin (think Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner formula). I tend to use cream shadows as a base for powder shadows but occasionally I'll use one on it's own for a quick wash of color.
I recently picked up a couple of these new Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Paints at Ulta. They are $4.99 a piece though I picked them up for buy 1, get 1 50% off. I chose the shades Peachy Apricot and Rich Russet. Both shade are shimmery with a metallic finish (I think they all are but don't quote me on that). Peachy Apricot is a pale copper and Rich Russet is a taupe/cool bronze .
The wand is a doe foot applicator. I wouldn't recommend attempting to blend out the product with this wand. I applied it with the wand directly to my lid, and then blended it out with my finger from lid to crease. I did this in a few thin layers to build intensity. I found that I needed to work fast so that the product didn't stat to dry mid-application and become patchy from blending it once it began setting.
I wore this product on it's own (no powder shadow on top) so that I could access the wear time. My observation is that it does wear throughout the day without creasing, but not without fading. I noticed that that my shadow lacked the initial intensity by lunchtime. It wasn't terrible by any means-- just didn't look as pigmented as it did right after application. Though the color faded it did wear away evenly. The look was pretty, just not as saturated.
I like these for an quick wash of color on days when I want a little something on my lids but can't be bothered with an elaborate look. Though I will use these, I doubt that I will repurchase or pick up any of the other shades from this line. As far a drugstore cream shades are concerned, I would recommend the Maybelline Color Tattoo over these.
