May Birchbox
I'm back with my May Birchbox! I had a lovely, restful vacation but I'm back to the grind now. My Birchbox arrived while I was out of town. I torn into it as soon as I could and found that it was a pretty good box! Here's what got.
1. Supergoop! Everyday SPF 30 with Cellular Response Technology: this formula is oil-free, water-resistant and very light-weight. It has a slight SPF scent but it's tolerable. This product is very comfortable to wear and absorbs almost instantly. It does contain chemical sunscreen so if you're sensitive to these or prefer physical sunscreens, you may want to skip this.
2. Number 4 High Performance Hair Care Volumizing Shampoo: this product is sulfate free so this is great for those of use with colored and/or frizzy tresses. You'll notice that it doesn't lather as much as your standard shampoo due to lack of sulfates, but it effectively cleans hair and has a light botanical fragrance.
3. Number 4 High Performance Hair Care Volumizing Condition: All I can say is: FOIL PACKET. I hate these. There's never enough product to really form an opinion. No sulfates, no parabens and no product (well, barely). There wasn't enough to condition my whole head so I had to add another conditioner in to get the job done. So I have no idea how this product works on it's own. All I can say is that it has a lovely scent.
4. Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash: nice formula (minus all the bad stuff: parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, petrol-derived materials). The product has a light refreshing fragrance and doesn't strip skin.
5. Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush: this is a moisturizing balm with a hint of color. A true tinted lip balm-- the emphasis being on BALM, not tinted. The color pay-off is minimal. This is not to be compared to the likes of the Revlon Lip Butters or NYX Butter Lipsticks. That being said, the slight coral hue is gorgeous and current. I love a tint of color at this time of year and this particular shade is perfect. I've been wearing it ever since I tore the box open. Here's a swatch, but it appears lighter on lips (since they are generally more pigmented than your hand!):

So there you have it-- a pretty good Birchbox for the month of May! It's great to be back!
Love,
Michele
